Julian on the Daily

Last week was Julians 9 month check up, they checked his weight, his height, well everything that is checked on a usual check up.

We expressed our worries. Of course. We were mainly worried about his asthma. Yes, he has a bit if asthma. It was diagnosed a few months back when we went for a sick visit when we only thought he had a cold and maybe an ear infection. That day he was given an inhaler with a spacer. A spacer helps when kids in our case a baby doesn't know how to properly use an inhaler. He was also given treatments for his nebulizer to help in future coughs.

So prior to this 9 month check up he had been waking up with coughing spasms. Only thing that would calm it down was a breathing treatment on the nebulizer.

We expressed this worry to his doctor, which we love. Dr. Valicek is gretat! So we went through all the possible culprits. The fan is not pointed to him, the temperature is alright, etc.  We're just not sure what it is. Along with coughing he would always had what seemed to be itchy eyes and a frequent runny nose. So she decided, step 1 was and allery medicine, Zertec is our first try at finding out what was going on. If this doesn't work and doesn't get better in a month we will proceed to a stronger inhaler twice a day for the foreseeable future. Its been almost a week and I see little difference in the watery eyes and runny nose but he hasn't woke up with an uncontrollable cough since the visit so for now I'm happy with that.

She said because we don't know what is causing his lungs to flare up we should stay away from eggs, fish and peanut butter until 15 months. So now we don't only have to wait for him to turn 1 to let him try peanut butter! We have to wait til 15 months. I saw saddened. All I can do is pray that hopefully this goes away.

He weighs 23 lbs and is at an average height.

She told us to start putting his formula in sippy cups to start weaning him off the bottle.

Thanks for reading.
How was your baby’s last check up?

Turkey Lettuce Tacos/Wraps-Fitness Friday Recipe

Last night I made these awesomely delicious Turkey Lettuce Tacos/Wraps!

My hubby wasn't too into the whole no bread protein style taco, so he settled for a whole wheat pocket. Needless to say he Loved them! He was also iffy about having turkey instead of beef, turns out he was amazed that he couldn't tell the difference!

With the right seasonings and some love,  you can make anything delicious!

This is what I used......

1lb. Ground Turkey
2 tlsp EVOO (EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL)
1 PKG. Taco Seasoning
Bell peppers
A bit of onion
Tomato
Green leaf lettuce

Heat oil up a bit, toss onions. Let onions caramelize a bit then add meat. When meat Is 3/4 done add taco seasoning.

Lengthwise add meat, some cheese and other toppings and enjoy!

We loved this turkey recipe and I hope you do too!

★Brunch Report★

For brunch I made myself an omelet! I love these, you can literally put anything you want in them! My choice today was turkey, onions and bell peppers.

-I sprayed the pan with olive oil cooking spray and cooked the turkey and the veggies for a few minutes, placed them on a plate and and continued with the omelet. Seasoned with salt and pepper.

-When that was done I placed the turkey mixture on one side and folded like a taco. Its really easy, healthy and very filling!

Yummy Crispy Crunchy Cornflake Chicken

So lately my hubby and i have been eating better and trying to lose weight. Our habits are changing and were seeing the difference. Since we're wanting to change our habits I was convinced that I had cook healthier meals, so I turned to pinterest.com :) I have the app on my phone for easy access and Google is always a great reference.

Though I've made it a few times before, I thought I'd post it here since I have friends that are also wanting to lose weight.

Ok so let's get to it! I was inspired to find something to fill my hubbys taste for crunchy fried chicken, so I found the healthier alternative.
Cornflakes are crunchy and tasty and now awesome to cook with! We bake them, so even better for our bellies!

Chicken tenderloins
Grounded Cornflakes w/added seasonings for flavor
1 egg
Some milk

That's all you need! I've read that greek yogurt makes an even healthier alternative for the egg and milk wash.
Wisk the egg with a splash of milk, dip chicken and drip excess.
Cover and press chicken in cornflake and seasoning mix.
Place on a flat dish. I put a little rack so the chicken doesn't get soggy when I take it out.
Bake at 325 for 20 minutes or until chicken has cooked through.

For sides I made lemon rice and green beans.
Lemon rice was yummy!
1 cup of rice
1 cup of water
1 cup of chicken broth
Juice of one lemon
Zest of one lemon
1tsp lemon pepper seasoning
Some salt to taste as well Mix in sauce pan and bring to a boil, turn to low and let cook until done. The green beans were cooked with olive oil and a bit of butter for taste and fresh chopped garlic with salt and pepper to taste. We cooked it lightly so we wouldn't cook all the nutrients out.

I know not to many people see this blog but hey, if you like it let me know. Or suggestions on the recipe to make it even better, that'd be awesome!
