Our Schlitterbahn Visit

Sunday was our first time going to a Schlitterbahn waterpark. My oldest son was very excited! It was a rainy morning but we paid no mind to that because Schlitterbahn haDisclosuret down packed with a covered indoor area. So we were not worried and knew the rain won't last all day. We met up some family and friends there. We had a blast!

Our favorite part was the lazy river.

My youngest even fell asleep on it!

Our boys love the water, baby Julian loved to splash and older brother Dom loved the slides and swimming in the wave pool.

Over all it was a great experience. I felt safe with all the lifeguards around and the free life vests. Theres nothing better than water filled day with family and friends!

***Disclosure***  No monetary compensation was received. My family received 4 free passes In exchange for these posts.

Schlitterbahn, Green before Green was cool

Green Facts on South Padre Waterpark Resort

Loblolly Pines:  In 2011 a major wildfire raged through Bastrop County, Texas in September. Three separate fires started during Labor Day weekend and by the time it was controlled, it destroyed 1,691 homes and burned over 34,000 acres of land including the vast majority of Bastrop State Park’s 5,900 acres of Loblolly pines. The Lost Pines Forest, thought to have originated in or before the Pleistocene era, was also heavily impacted.

For safety, the burned pines had to be removed. These scorched trees were destined for the grinder who would have turned them into mulch. Jeff Henry with Schlitterbahn offered to take the felled trees, then had them milled, beginning the process of transforming the pines from scorched wood to the most dramatic feature throughout the Schlitterbahn Beach Resort at South Padre.

Here’s where you’ll find the Bastrop Pines in the resort:

·        Rooms:  In most rooms the cabinets, coffee tables, nightstands, and headboards are made from the Bastrop Loblolly pines.

·        Dining areas: Large tables are made from the Loblolly pines.

·        Lobby: The large tree stump tables by the doors leading to the heated pool are from the fire, as is the siding along many of the interior walls.

·        External: The siding on the outside walls of the resort are made from Loblolly pine.

Ropes:  Over three miles of 3-inch mooring ropes of dozens of former ships have been painstakingly wrapped around giant concrete structural poles in our Sea 4ever 10,000 square foot patio.

Green House: The retractable roof over our indoor waterpark was built from a large greenhouse – an old Schultz nursery.

Lobby Check in Counter: Built from salvaged walnut trees which were pulled from a road project in Kansas.

Parapet Walls: The hatch covers came off a famous US Troop carrier the John E. Pope and are used on parapet walls and also to make tables. Over 500 are on site.

Chandeliers: The beautiful chandeliers hanging in the Sea 4ever event patio were salvaged from an ageing Vegas hotel.  Our team glued shells to them and hung in the ceiling.

Waterslides: Yes, even some of the water slides were recycled. The water slides came from a park in Cleveland Ohio, were salvaged, refurbished, and re-installed.

Handrails: An old Dutchman Downs Stadium was the source for all the handrails.

Julian's First Independence Day 2013

Today was Lorenzo's first Independence Day! He's recovering from a cold so he wasn't the happiest, but he still enjoed it! My niece Bella turned 3 today, so pretty much every 4th of July we celebrate with her. After that we spent the rest of the day with daddy's family. We watched fireworks on tv and ate homemade food.

Late Dinner Post

So last night I made stir-fry! And might I say it was delicious! Its was so colorful, well mostly green lol

I mixed in:
●Bell Peppers
●Mushrooms
●Onion
●Carrots
●Bean Spouts
●Minced Garlic
●Green Beans
●Snow Peas

I made beef stir-fry actually. I cooked the beef about 4 to 5 minutes, then sat aside. Cooked the veggies about 4 minutes as well then blended both. I used extra virgin olive oil of course. I did buy the premade sauce,  but only used a bit to coat the mixture. After some research, I think I'll actually try to make my own sauce next time! I let it cook a about another 5 minutes and done!  I'm still watching what I eat so I didnt even bother to make rice and I didn't cook the veggies all the way either to not cook out all the nutrition. It was so filling and flavorful!  My hubby loved it!

Thanks for reading :)

#bigbrotherproblems

Parenting Question:
Dom sometimes doesn't understand that Enzo is a baby,  therefore can't do everything just yet! He wants Enzo to play like as he does and that makes him sad. Julian is only sitting at the moment and falls back sometimes, a few has been because of Dom. What can I do to get through to him?

Dinner Report!

Tonight I craved steaks! So guys I don't have an outdoor grill just yet and I dont have a cast iron skillet either so I looked online some time ago and came across a tip online for baked steaks! We've done them like this a few times already and they are so good, tender, and juicy!

-So, I brown them in a pan on both sides and cook them in the oven the rest of the time! That's it!

-Season to taste of course!

-For the size of the steaks I did 325°f for 20 minutes,  we like medium well, so we had a bit of pink.

For sides, we were a little bad going with steak fries, but we did have green beans with them. ♡

-I baked the steak fries as well, drizzled with some olive oil and sea salt.
-Green Beans were sautéed in olive oil, with minced garlic and salt and pepper.
Overall my craving was satisfied! And no offense to my steak lovers, I love steak with A1 sauce! Lol

Home Cooked Meal ○Tinga○

Personally i think my mom makes the best tinga. But of course everyone thinks their moms cooking is the best. But my mom doesn't make it or we don't go over as often as my hubby would like. So today my hubby begged for me to take on the challenge of preparing this awesomely delicious spicy meal.

What is tinga?  Well it's a chipotle based Mexican dish that is pretty spicy yet, delicious. It's usually made with chicken but we love the beef.

I've wanted to make it for a long time but, I can't bare to even attempt a family recipe, not be successful and feel crappy for it. So without inviting anyone over, I thought I'd give it a try,  atleast for my hardworking hubby! My family can be a bit judgmental when something just doesn't taste right. So that's why I've been hesitant on cooking family recipes, even just regular Mexican food lol. Well I tried it, and we loved it. It's surprisingly simple and not that hard! Next time I make it I'll have to post the recipe and more pics :)
